I build business websites on WordPress if you want to edit the content yourself, or in Astro or Next.js if the site should be light and fast. I've been building websites for 18 years and I work alone, so from brief to launch you talk to the person who writes the code.

WordPress websites
WordPress works well when you'll be updating your services or news yourself. I set up the admin panel so that editing doesn't need a developer, and after launch you get a short guide to editing.

Fast sites in Astro and Gatsby
When a site changes rarely, I generate it statically with Astro or Gatsby. The server sends ready-made HTML files, so the site loads quickly even on a slower phone, and there's no database or plugins to keep updated.

Next.js and headless WordPress
I use Next.js when a site has a dynamic part or a large number of pages. It can be paired with WordPress as the content panel, which is how my WirePress project works: there, the static site responds about 35 times faster than classic WordPress.

Phones and tablets
I design the layout phone-first and check it on phones, tablets and desktops. Menus and forms should be comfortable to use with a thumb, not just squeezed onto the screen.

SEO and moving from an old site
I set up titles, descriptions, headings and the sitemap while building the site, not as an afterthought. If you already have a site, I move over the content worth keeping and set up 301 redirects from the old addresses, so links from Google still lead where they should.

Launch and afterwards
I put the site live on the server and hand over the source files along with a short guide to editing. I stay in touch when something needs fixing or adding.
